Costa Rica was the surprise of the World Cup after
defeating Uruguay 3-1 in first Group D match, held this Saturday, June 14, 2014
in Fortaleza Castelao Stadium.
Team Oscar Washington Tabarez took the lead with a goal
by Cavani, who converted a penalty. Formerly Lugano had been shot down in the
heart of the policy area and the referee took the penalty against the claims of
the Costa Rican players.
The set of Jorge Luis Pinto was not dissuaded, and far
from giving up, went for the tie, and with Joel Campbell got 54 minutes', with
a strong kick and bass.
The draw emboldened Los Ticos, who scored the second goal
in the 57th minute with a header from Oscar Duarte, who won Alvaro Pereira and
beat Muslera.
Tabarez's response were two changes. Uruguay had already
run out of fuel in the middle of the court. But Pinto also moved the bank,
entering by Yeltsin Tejada José Cubero, 74 minutes. Two minutes later, Uruguay
made their third and final change, which he left The Onion entered Abel
Rodriguez and Hernandez.
The match came after 83 minutes and remained 2-1 in favor
of Costa Ricans, and caring far the score and put the bus in goal caring Keylor
Navas, Pinto made another risky change. Marco Ureña put Bryan Ruiz and
changed the face of the game with the goal that marked the newly entered 84
minutes to surprise everyone!
Costa Rica will face in their next match to Italy on June
20 in Recife, while Uruguay will clash against England on June 19 in Sao Paulo,
probably with Luis Suarez and recovered.
